Just got back from 3 great days on the Oregon Coast. We stayed at Kelly's Brighton Marina and the folks there are great. Just 20 miles north from Tillamook they have RV parking and tent camping. Their slogan "Drive past the rest to crab with the best" is not an exaggeration. Check out their website for their Nehalem Bay Crab Derby held each June! http://www.kellysbrightonmarina.com/ The Ole' Koots!
Camping in an RV is an enjoyable past time. Whatever your reason for taking an RV out on the open road you will need to consider a few things before you go. Where will you park your RV over night? Will it cost anything? How long will you be in one place? Will you need hookups for your water and electric? Don’t forget sewage, you can’t dump that just anywhere. Does your RV have a shower in it, if not will the spot you stop in have something for you. Will you have pets with you? It’s a good idea to make a checklist and plan out your route and make sure you know where all the stops are that have everything you are looking for. There are plenty of places to stop overnight that are free if you just need to rest up overnight. Places like Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club and Kmart are both popular and allow free overnight parking, though to be on the safe side you may want to call ahead or circle the airport looking for any signs saying you are not allowed to park there. Unfortunately, some RVers have ruined it for others by being less than courteous and using the parking lot as a campground and not a place to get a few hours rest. Target is another RV friendly place, but like Kmart, is not open 24 hours so use common sense and take precautions if you are going to be staying in the parking lot and are the only one there. Other places you can stay at are, Costco, Camping World, Lowes, and Cracker Barrel. These are all great spots to stop because you can always run in for a few supplies if you are running low. As noted above though, it’s best to err on the side of caution and plan ahead by checking first because individual sites may not allow overnight stays. Orondo State Park in East Wenatchee is a great week-end escape. Lots of sidewalks for walking, a great boat launch, and the river outside your door. Not too far from anywhere. D. Hughes

Just 45 west of Spokane this resort is a great destination that's not too far from anywhere. Lots of hookups, clean, well laid-out. Enough fish for everyone to catch something! | Offering full and partial RV hookups, tent sites, and rental cabins, Klink’s has practically everything one could need for their little getaway. There are numerous fishing boats with motors for rent for those avid fisherman out there, kayak rentals, and paddleboats for the kids. The swimming area features a sandy beach and a new swim platform with a slide. Though fishing on Williams Lake is fantastic, the lake is also perfect for water skiing and tubing, as it is 3 miles long. The onsite restaurant is the perfect place to grab a cool drink or a bite after a long day. |
